Custom Engagement Rings, Handcrafted in Burleigh Heads
Every custom piece starts with the stone and the hand that will wear it.
At Troy Clancy Jewellery we design and make engagement rings in our private Burleigh Heads atelier — not a shopping-centre counter. You sit down with the jeweller, look at real diamonds, choose the metal, and leave with a ring that was made for one person.
Appointment only. Ethical, certified diamonds. 18ct gold or platinum. From $2,500.

What a custom ring costs here
These are starting points, not quotes. The diamond, metal and setting decide the final figure. You get a firm price before any work begins.
| Starting point | From (AUD) | What’s included |
|---|---|---|
| Custom design using a stone we select together | $2,500 | Consultation, design, making in-studio |
| Classic solitaire in 18ct gold | $3,800 | Setting and band made here; diamond priced separately or as a complete ring |
| Hidden halo or shoulder diamonds | $5,500 | Extra setting work and side stones |
| Remodel a family diamond into a new ring | By quote | We keep the stone, remake the setting |
| Platinum instead of 18ct gold | By quote | Same design, cooler white metal |
No pressure to “upgrade the carat.” We will tell you if a smaller, better-cut stone will look brighter on the hand.
Cuts we make most often
You are not limited to these. They are simply what couples on the Gold Coast ask for.
Round brilliant — maximum fire. The cut we choose when brilliance matters more than outline.
Oval — longer on the finger, still lively. A strong choice if you want presence without a huge carat.
Cushion — softer corners, vintage character. Works in yellow gold and in platinum.
Emerald — clean step-cut hall. Chosen when you want clarity and lines, not sparkle for its own sake.
Pear — one stone, two personalities. Needs a setting that protects the point.
Every stone is hand-picked here for cut and character. Natural, conflict-free diamonds only. GIA, HRD and Argyle certificates when the stone calls for it.
Metals
- 18ct yellow gold — warm, Australian, and the metal most requested in the studio this year
- 18ct white gold — cool and sharp; rhodium can be refreshed later
- 18ct rose gold — softer pink, often chosen for oval and cushion stones
- Platinum — denser, whiter, no plating. Best when the ring will be worn every day for decades
We work the metal in-house. If you already have gold or a family stone, say so at the first appointment. Remodelling is often the better path.
How the process works
- Book a private consultation
Weekdays, 9am–5pm, Burleigh Heads. No weekend or after-hours appointments. - Look at stones in the studio
You see the diamond in tweezers, not only on a screen. We talk budget, hand shape and how the ring will actually be worn. - Design
Sketches and proportions until it is right. Changes are normal. Nothing is locked until you say so. - Made here
Setting, shank and finish are done in the Burleigh Heads workshop. Typical made-to-order time is 7–10 days once the stone and design are agreed. Complex work takes longer — we tell you upfront. - Collect
Final check, sizing if needed, and care advice. Then it leaves with you.

Questions couples actually ask
How much is a custom engagement ring on the Gold Coast?
Complete rings in the studio commonly start from the mid thousands once a quality diamond is included. Design-led work using a selected stone starts from $2,500. You get a written figure before we start.
Can I use a family diamond?
Yes. That is often the most meaningful ring we make. We assess the stone first, then build a setting that protects it.
Natural or lab-grown?
We work with natural, conflict-free diamonds. If you want a lab-grown stone we will say so plainly and tell you what that means for the piece.
Do I have to know the exact design before I come in?
No. Bring a photo, a Pinterest save, or nothing. The consultation is the design meeting.
How long does it take?
Most new rings are 7–10 days after the stone and design are confirmed. Restorations and complex settings take longer.
Is there a deposit?
A design deposit secures bench time and is deducted from the finished ring. We confirm the amount when we quote.
